Trekking on
Mount Ararat
doesn’t require any technical skills. Only at 4900 meters we wear crampons for last 1 - 1,5 hour. Mostly the path is quite fine to walk and it is not rocky. Mount Ararat is not very difficult peak to climb but it is over 5000 m high, so the big challenge is altitude.
Have you heard that...

Mount Ararat is also the legendary last resting place of Noah’s Ark. So the story goes, the Ark made landfall somewhere on Mount Ararat as the waters of the biblical Flood began to recede. People have spent a lot of time and money looking for the Ark on Mount Ararat as a result. The region around Mount Ararat is also very fragmented in ethnic and national terms.
At 3,925 meters or nearly 13,000 feet, Little Ararat is higher than Mount Fujiyama in Japan, though it doesn’t stick up as far above the surrounding landscape. It is only little compared to Ararat’s main peak!
Mount Ararat is a dormant volcano with two peaks. Its highest peak, called Ağrı Dağı in Turkish, is 5,165 meters high, or nearly 17,000 feet. The lower peak is a prominent, symmetrical cone known in Turkish as Küçükağrı Dağı in Turkish and ‘Little Ararat’ in English.
Mount Ararat, the national mountain of Armenia, though it is just inside the Turkish border these days. Mount Ararat is at a triple point where Armenia, Turkey and Iran all meet. Climbers mostly set out up the southern sunny face of the mountain from a town called Doğubeyazıt.

Mount Ararat is the tallest peak in Turkey. This snow-capped, dormant volcanic cone is located in the Igdir Province, near the northeast corner of Turkey, 16 km (10 miles) west of the Iranian and 32 km (20 miles) south of the Armenian border.
A smaller 3,896 m (12,782 ft) cone, Little Ararat , rises from the same base, southeast of the main peak . The lava plateau stretches out between the two pinnacles. The last activity on the mountain was a major earthquake in July 1840 centered around the Ahora Gorge, a northeast trending chasm that drops 1,825 metres (6,000 ft) from the top of the mountain.
